Our Services
Smart Brain & Health specializes in advanced neuroimaging, neurotherapeutics, and Neuronavigation to evaluate, assess, and treat patients with neurological pathologies, such as Depression, Anxiety, OCD, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Smart Brain & Health utilizes Neuronavigation to accurately target areas of the brain with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS Therapy is a non-pharmacological and noninvasive approach that helps re-establish healthy communication patterns in the brain by emitting safe MRI-strength magnetic pulses to the areas of the brain responsible for symptoms.
Smart Brain & Health TMS treats the source of the problem. Unlike medications which can affect a patient’s entire body with systemic side effects, the most common side effect of TMS is discomfort at the treatment site, and many of our patients find this lessens after the first week of treatment. TMS is also convenient – patients are treated from the comfort of our office and are fully awake and sitting during the procedure.
What sets Smart Brain & Health apart from other TMS providers is our individualized approach through the use of neuroimaging to accurately locate areas of the brain responsible for the patient’s symptoms.
NEUROIMAGING
Smart Brain & Health utilizes both structural and functional imaging of the brain to enhance treatment for many neurological pathologies.
- Brain MRI (“Morphologic MRI”) shows the anatomical structures of the brain. This type of study is useful in identifying cysts, tumors, bleeding, swelling, developmental and structural abnormalities, infections, inflammatory conditions, or problems with blood vessels.
- Functional MRI (“fMRI”) shows us how the brain is functioning and communicating with itself. Smart Brain & Health’s fMRI technology is a groundbreaking tool used to accurately target areas of the brain that are affected by or involved with brain diseases. Rather than showing what the brain looks like, fMRI is one of the most advanced imaging techniques that shows brain activity in real time, allowing us to truly “See the Thinking Brain™.”
Using our specialized proprietary fMRI paradigms and procedures, Smart Brain & Health has achieved optimal results in treating patients with various neuropsychiatric disorders.
Fractional Anisotrophy (“FA Analysis”) allows us to quantify the health of a patient’s White Matter Tracts in their brain. These tracts are often injured in head trauma or other neuropsychiatric conditions.
Volumetric Analysis is used to compare the sizes and volumes of brain structures to age-matched healthy controls. This study can be useful in predicting brain atrophy as a result to aging, trauma, or other conditions. Upon completion, the patient’s imaging results are compared to our database of healthy age-matched patients.
Review Prior Imaging - In addition to providing the most advanced imaging techniques, at Smart Brain and Health, we understand the importance of taking a patient’s medical history into account. Schedule a consultation with our Chief Neuroradiologist, Dr. Bradley Jabour, to review prior imaging studies to analyze any changes and to build a plan of action.
